For more than two decades, Laurie Rochlin and Joan Romo, Board Certified Advocates in Special Education, have worked side by side as Child Study Team members and Case Managers in the Bergen County Public Schools. Together, they have partnered with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure students receive the evaluations, services, and support they need to succeed. Additionally, they were part of numerous IEP meetings involving school attorneys and advocates which fostered their passion for collaborative problem solving. Their in-depth knowledge of special education law, eligibility, and procedures coupled with their collaborative problem-solving skills help parents navigate the process with confidence and foster positive relationships with schools. They know how schools operate and what it takes to get students the support they need so they receive the FAPE they deserve. They combine insider knowledge with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach—helping parents feel informed, empowered, and confident when working with teachers, administrators, and Child Study Teams.
